ทรรศนะ Maliki นักวิชาการบางท่านก็เห็นด้วยกับท่านพี่โอ๊คว่า การเล่นกีต้าร์เสียงเบาๆ เป็นที่อนุญาตให้กระทำได้ก็ต่อเมื่อเนื้อร้องมีความหมายที่ไม่ขัดต่อศาสนา และขึ้นอยู่กับว่าเล่นเนื่องในโอกาสใดด้วย
(แน่นอนว่า จะบาปถ้าหากเล่นในบริบทที่มีสุราเมรัยหรืออบายมุข)
และแน่นอนว่า มุสลิมจะเล่นดนตรีเป็นกิจวัตรไม่ได้
ส่วนเนื้อร้อง ห้ามมีเนื้อหาที่เข้าข่ายบาปใหญ่ มิฉะนั้นจะกลายเป็นบาปใหญ่
มุสลิมฟังเพลง ไม่บาปเท่ามุสลิมเล่นร้องรำทำเพลง (เล่นดนตรี)
ต่างศาสนิกสามารถเล่นดนตรี ถ้าไม่มีอะไรที่เข้าข่ายบาปใหญ่ (ไม่ผิดศีลธรรม)
สำหรับอิสลาม ดนตรี โดยทั่วไปแล้วคือบาปเล็ก แต่ก็มีข้อยกเว้น (หลายอย่างในศาสนาเราย่อมมีข้อยกเว้น) เช่นถ้าเล่นแค่เพื่อสังสรรค์ในกรณีที่เป็นงานเลี้ยง ปีละแค่ไม่กี่ครั้ง เช่น เทศกาลวันอีด และหลังพิธีนิก๊ะห์ หลังงานเชิญต่างศาสนิกมาเล่นให้ข้อคิดเสริมความสุขสุนทรีย์ในการคิดถึงพระเจ้า แบบนี้ถือว่า"ไม่บาป".
